Pressure Tanks

Sumak Pump has the pressure tanks produced specially in accordance with international quality standards by the partner company in Turkey. These pressure tanks are used in Sumak’s booster sets and fire groups and distributed all over the country.
SUMAK pressure tanks are used as hydrophore pressure vessels in the booster systems where mains pressure is not enough and to avoid the damage of the indoor plumbing systems-heating installations caused by pressure of heated water. Also used as hydrophore expansion tanks in the hydrophores, which are used to supply pressured water to the buildings, to avoid frequent activation of booster pumps.

In addition, in the hydrophore systems energy saving is provided by controlling pump starting by hydrophore pressure switch setting and long-lasting and efficient operation of the booster pump is provided by right hydrophore selection.
When pressure tank heat circuit is on, heated and expanded water volume is accumulated in the hydrophore tank, then temperature falls, water returns back to installation and installation pressure is compensated by pressure switch setting. There is hydrophore membrane which is tank balloon filled with air and working as fuse, preventing the system not to affect working in opposite direction caused by expansion. Turkey manufacturer of expansion tank.

EXPANSION TANKS

  Expansion tanks are plumbing equipment that provides pressure control and water support in plumbing systems. It is also called balance tank and today they can be produced by Turkish manufacturers  in pressure classes of 10 bar (10 atm) and 16 bar (16 atm) from 1 liter to 2000 liters capacity. The expansion tank or the balance tank prevents the booster from being activated too frequently in low water consumption demands, and ensures that the system pressure remains stable within certain limits. There are water and gas (air) compartments separated from each other by a membrane In the expansion tank. In this way, the gas is prevented from dissolving in water. This membrane can be manufactured from different materials, they are made from Butyl or EPDM and On Request, it is made in Natural Rubber or NBR. EPDM rubber is a type of synthetic rubber used in many applications. The dienes used in the manufacture of EPDM rubbers are ethylidene norbornene, dicyclopentadiene and vinyl norbornene. The water side is connected to the plumbing system, while the gas is filled into the tank with a certain pre-pressure. The gas cushion, whose pressure is adjusted when there is no water in the tank, balances the water pressure in the system.

Matters to be Considered in the Expansion Tanks ;

Hydrophore Tank produced by Turkish manufacturers ,  Membranes, especially those used in drinking water, should be hygienic. It should not cause odor and produce bacteria in the water.

There must be an air pressure 10% below the lower pressure of the booster in the booster expansion tank, that is, a booster with a lower pressure of 4 bar (4 atm) must have an air pressure of 3.6 bar (3.6 atm) in the expansion tank.

While filling the booster expansion tank with air, the water in the tank must be drained, otherwise the water pressure in the tank will mislead you.

Expansion Tank Membranes should be produced from EPDM material, have a great stretching ability and should be able to maintain this elasticity for many years.

Membranes used in the tanks to be operated in the expansion tank heating installation must withstand a temperature of at least 100 ˚C.

The depleted air of the membranes in the expansion tank must be replenished every six months. Just like car tires, the pre-air pressures in membrane tanks decrease from the set value over time. For this reason, the preset air pressures of membrane tanks must be checked every six months.

Where are Expansion Tanks used ;

  • Water systems.
  • Washing systems.
  • Pressure systems.
  • Irrigation pumps.
  • Solar and pressure containment systems.
  • Cooling systems (shrinkage tank).
  • We come across the use of expansion tanks in heating systems such as hot water systems.

  It is actually very easy to understand the working principle of the expansion tank manufactured in Turkey. When the water is heated, it expands and the expanding water affects the pressure in the closed heating systems it is in. This causes increase the pressure in the systems. As time passes, this pressure increases and some fluctuations occur. These fluctuations begin to put the system at risk and damage the system. It is the duty of the expansion tank to prevent this pressure and possible dangers. In other words, the expansion tank acts as a mediator between the increased heat pressure and the heating system. Expansion tank which produces by Turkish balance tanks manufacturers, which provides control of the increasing heat; It reduces and balances the pressure in the system and allows the system to operate at the desired performance. It will not be wrong to give these answers to the question of what is the expansion tank good for. Expansion tanks that equalize the pressure in the system are found in every boiler room today.

To briefly summarize the working principle of the expansion tank; as hot water enters the heating system, the pressure level in the system increases. As this pressure increases, the diaphragm in the expansion tank is pushed down. In this way, the air in the tank is compressed and space is provided for excess water to enter. The excess pressure in the system is reduced, thus preventing the pipes from being damaged.

Types of Expansion Tanks ;

There are 2 types of expansion tanks, open and closed:

Open Expansion Tank;

Open expansion tanks operating open to the atmosphere prevent the installation from rising above this pressure according to the pressure ratio in the atmosphere. Thus, it protects the system.

Closed Expansion Tank;

  Closed expansion tank is preferred in systems where open expansion tank produced by turkish expansion tanks manufacturer  cannot be placed and operating in larger capacities. Closed expansion tanks working together with the monometer and safety valve must be mounted on the return line of the heating system.

What to Consider When Choosing an Expansion Tank;

Do not forget to pay attention to the following in order to choose the right expansion tank:

  • Capacity (in liters)
  • Height of the place to be used
  • Compressive strength
  • Auxiliary equipment that will work with the expansion tank
  • Expansion tank price (Expansion tank prices vary depending on the capacity, height of the place to be used, pressure resistance and whether the tank is a horizontal expansion tank or a vertical expansion tank.)
